"Bluebell" OBJ8 CSL packages 1.3.19

4 Screenshots

About This File

This is a package of non-flyable CSL aircraft models for XSquawkBox, xPilot, swift, and X-IvAp. It uses the "next gen" OBJ8 format to support animations and modern rendering techniques.

It is based on Bluebell's WorldTraffic AI models, which were themselves converted from FS2004 AI models. It includes 80 different aircraft types and approximately 1,800 liveries.

How to install

Extract the zip files directly into the CSL directory:

C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\XSquawkBox\Resources\CSL

or whatever is the equivalent for your system.

Alternate download links

The zip files are also hosted here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8hGoqCV5Z5AcTM4ZWhIX2RZT2M?resourcekey=0-axkxF99alUJ8uKL_24aItQ&usp=sharing

PNG versions of the liveries are here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1N61ibivrGHmbeEd4UBWk4kGAEvr6Wdfi?usp=sharing

The obj files and xsb_aircraft.txt files are maintained on GitHub: https://github.com/oktal3700/bluebell

Submitting new liveries

If you have created new CSL models or liveries that you would like me to add to the package, please open an issue on GitHub.

I can't help with creating them, as I don't know how, so please don't ask.

Please also open an issue if you notice any bugs in the package.

The part1 part2 part3 are parts (volumes) of a single archive. Every part is needed, and will be recombined during extraction. If everything goes well, you download all parts, open part1, click extract, and it extracts all parts. If you open the other parts individually they may appear to contain the same files.

CTD with X-Ivap :(

Unsurprising, as we have no idea if X-IvAp supports this format.

CTD also with Xsquawkbox....

That is surprising. It worked for me with XSB 1.3.2. I can't suggest anything but to follow the usual advice, disable all other plugins, reinstall XSB, see if anything changes.

Delete Jets and Props (back them up first). Then extract and your folders should look like this:

XSquawkBox/Resources/CSL/BB_Airbus
                        /BB_Boeing
                        /BB_GA
                        /BB_Heli
                        /BB_Jets
                        /BB_Mil
                        /BB_Props

Something seems wrong. Post your Log.txt as an attachment?

I have found that this issue can be resolved by toggling shadows in X-Plane graphical settings.

In XP11 There is only one toggle ,and choosing shaddows on scenery it destroys Framerates , do you mean turn it on and then off again ?

Yes, either turn it off or turn it on. If on destroys framerates, then turn it on, apply the change, resume the flight, then go back to settings and turn it off again.

Something about flipping that particular switch seems cause the renderer to remember that it's supposed to render the planes.

Works for me, your mileage may vary. If it doesn't work, then wait for XSB 1.3.3 to be released and if it's still a problem then, report a bug to the XSB developer.

Just downloaded and installed as instructed. In some cases the model matching works well, while in others I get the Hawker 800XP instead of a 744, 772, A320 etc.

So only once I managed to see traffic online - some were only lights.

Now I get CTD everytime (with/or without AI aircrafts)

All I get is a crash (CTD) as well. If I eliminate the AI aircraft, all I can see are the callsigns of other aircraft. As soon as an AI plane is added, the simulator crashes immediately. What's the problem?

Success!!!

I got online VATSIM and made some screenshots :)

Now the CSLs look very good if they match well.

The moving models was my dream of flying online and it actually happens!

I hope not to get more CTD....

Noticed problems with B744, MD11- they don't appear - only lights...

This is a great work !!!

Wow, nice screenshots!

Thanks everyone for all the reports. I fixed a mistake in the xsb_aircraft.txt files, which should solve some of the problems. If you've already downloaded the packages, you don't need to download the whole 900MB again, you can just download the hotfix.zip to replace the xsb_aircraft.txt files with the fixed ones.

There are also model matching bugs scheduled to be fixed in the next version of XSB.

Actually those screenshots look a little too good. It's possible that what you're seeing there is XSB falling back to using X-Plane's .acf AI planes. Your framerates look really good though, so I'm really not sure.

Quick couple of questions:

Question 1:

As a MAC user (I know. Oh dear, MAC users are pains in the backside :) ),  I am seeing a lot of double up in the .RAR files. (i.e. Airbus 2 and 3 will have the same amount of A320, A321, A332).

For example:

  1. I have followed process as described, DL'd all Airbus files.
  2. Then I extract them.
  3. Then I go into Xplane/Resources/Plugins/XSquawkbox V1.3 or above/Resources/CSL...  Remove Jets and Props
  4. Then I open first extracted file: (i.e. BB_Airbus.part1), expand to second folder (i.e. BB_Airbus), copy and place in Xplane/Resources/Plugins/XSquawkbox V1.3 or above/Resources/CSL.
  5. Then I open second extracted file (i.e. BB_Airbus.part2), now this is where for a MAC user it gets tricky as you have to scroll through each folder (i.e. A306, A310 etc.) and make sure that I add the ONLY files that are newer in BB_Airbuspart2 than part1
  6. Then its wash, rinse, repeat for all the other folders.
  7. In the end my folder should look like the following ?  (see attached image)

Screen%20Shot%202017-04-09%20at%2010.28.

Question 2:

Is there a reason we cannot combine the amounts of the .RAR files and just have 1 BB_Airbus file? As this may alleviate the issue of MAC user having to combine the files as they have been downloaded.

Am I the only one thinking of this?

Tedd

Hotfix fixed much of the model matching issues I was having. Now only problem is I'd say 40% of aircraft are in the wrong livery. For example Air Canada A321 showing US AIRWAYS livery.
